Israel Hotels, Travel and Tourism Reservations Guide - Gems in Israel

Gems in Israel was founded in September 1999. A two-time recipient of the Jewish Agency's Top-10 Award and part of Travel and Events in Israel. It is now is the most comprehensive online source of Israel Hotels and Travel Reservations and Israel tourist information.

While we have many interesting sections on the site, for you to explore, such as our Talking Maps Recipe section , e-Cards etc., the site has two primary areas for you to explore; the online Israel Travel Reservations Center and the Archive. You can place your Israel travel reservation online at over 300 Israel hotels, book a guided tour, rent a car and read about places you can explore on your own, all right here.

See what people have to say about our tours or take a look at some of the awards recognition and kudos we have received.

In the archive you'll find a wealth of articles about Israel's attractions, especially the lesser-known
places in Israel.Take a look at our Jerusalem Travel Guide, Tel Aviv Travel Guide, and Haifa Travel Guide.

In most cases the articles in the archive are organized into theme issues (not by geography), and have a strong focus on both biblical and modern history of Israel. You'll find information about the early Zionist Pioneers, Biblical Places and People, Israeli Art & Sculpture and a wealth of additional information. If you like what you see in the archive, you might just want to subscribe to Gems in Israel's newsletter. That way, you'll get all our tips & resources as well as information about our latest tours.

Our free award-winning opt-in newsletter provides practical travel tips that you can use during your trips to Israel. Additional information can be found in our series of e-books. You can learn more about all our services and products here.

Our contributors write for people who are interested in more than just the major tourist attractions, for seasoned and first-time visitors to Israel and anyone who dreams of one day visiting the Holy Land.

Here's what you'll find on this site. We feature two types of attractions (ones that we consider Gems):

Main Attractions - these include places you would make plans to see ahead of time

On the side - these are places you wouldn't normally go to as a major attraction, rather places that it's good to know about when you're already at a specific location. This could include a great place to have coffee, an artist's workshop or gallery, a good restaurant, a nice/offbeat place to stay or an interesting retail shop.

Make sure you get all the Gems, subscribe now to Gems in Israel's Travel, Tour and Tips Newsletter! Gems in Israel's periodic newsletters will provide you will valuable trip planning information (that is not, featured on the Web site).

There is a Hebrew saying "pnina shel makom", which literally translated means "a pearl of a place", loosely translated this is a "gem of a place", which is how we got our name. We provide a resource that will enable you to get to know the places in Israel that a tourist wouldn't normally know about, the Gems. We feature lesser-known attractions and in so doing we draw on the experience of another Israeli treasure, its people.

Who is behind Gems in Israel? Gems in Israel was founded by Yael Adar. Her idea was simple. You can’t really get to know a country, just by visiting the major tourist attractions. She is passionate about Israel. Her dream is to enable visitors to see the Israel she loves, by providing an ongoing resource to travelers. Contributors to Gems in Israel, include, archaeologists, tour guides, and history scholars to name a few.
